The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Itire-Ikate Chapter, on Thursday, 11th June 2026 received members of the Labour Relations Committee of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, LGSC, during their annual visitation to the council.
Attended by the Council Treasurer, Mrs. Adebambo-Ogundare Funlola, the meeting formed part of the Commission’s routine engagement to assess labour relations, monitor union activities and review staff welfare across local government councils.
Discussions centred on staff welfare, workplace harmony, and union activities. The Committee urged union executives to remain committed to workers’ interests with fairness and accountability, while placing collective staff interest above personal considerations.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Olatunji Mutairu, Team Leader of the Labour Relations Committee, spoke extensively on labour welfare. He gave kudos to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, for creating a comfortable working environment and prioritizing staff wellbeing.
NULGE Chairman, Comrade Adebayo Solomon, appreciated the Commission’s continuous support and highlighted achievements: customized water for staff, monthly birthday celebrations, consistent payment of bonuses, well-equipped health facilities, official union bus, staff bus, and financial assistance initiatives under Hon. Odunayo’s administration.
This annual assessment visit underscores the strong synergy between the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission and Itire-Ikate LCDA in advancing staff welfare and workplace harmony. The commendations from the Labour Relations Committee further validate the people-first leadership of Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel in delivering comfort and dignity to local government workers.
